Armstrong DR-GS-15H Electric start
Petrol Wood Chipper
The Armstrong DR-GS-15H Professional wood chipper is pound for pound, one of the most capable machines on the market, designed and engineered to give unrivalled performance in its class.
Engineered to work hard and be ultra-reliable, this high powered, electric start chipper can get through vast quantities in no time, at a price that is as impressive as the quality of the machine.
Heavily built to the superior standards that people expect from Armstrongs, the DR-GS-15H is able to break down material up to an impressive 120mm diameter at a rate of approximately 6M³ - 10M³ per hour.
To compliment the engineering and strength built into the design, we have partnered with the world-renowned KOHLER Engines company to provide the power for our full range of arboricultural equipment. Bringing Euro V emissions standards, we’re proud to be able to supply the most up to date environmentally friendly petrol power with optimal fuel economy and reliability.
The Armstrong DR-GS-15H features the KOHLER CH440 429cc Command PRO 14hp Euro V Petrol Engine single cylinder petrol engine, which transmits its power to the chipper drum via a centrifugal clutch and a pair of heavy-duty drive belts.
The chipper drum is mounted on 2 sealed for life bearings and features 2 opposing double-sided hardened chipper blades – these can be reversed to give a new edge and twice the working life. The blades rotate in an anti-clockwise direction, towards the adjustable counter knife at between 3000 and 4000 RPM. The optimal blade clearance between the chipper blades and the chippers counter knife is between 0.5 and 1mm.
The chipper can process branches with a maximum diameter of 120mm, but the optimal working range for heavy duty and prolonged use is around 80-100mm depending on (among other factors) the moisture level and hardness of the wood you are chipping.
Although the Armstrong DR-GS-15H has been designed as a chipper and not a shredder, it is capable of handling green waste when combined in reduced quantities with branches and sticks. An overload of green matter is likely to cause blockages.
For maximum stability and ease of manoeuvrability the Armstrong DR-GS-65H is built on a rock solid 800mm wide chassis and fitted with large ATV style pneumatic tyres. The chassis is mated to a rigid drawbar, fitted with a 50mm ball tow hitch and safety chain. The deployable stand gives a sturdy base when disconnected from the tow vehicle, which can be folded away easily for towing.
Handles are ergonomically placed on the intake hopper to allow easy movement by hand at the job site. The machine is designed with off-road use in mind and is not suitable for road use in the UK
The intake hopper of the chipper is hinged, to make access to the chipper drum and blades simple. The discharge chute is fitted with a 360-degree aimable swivel head allowing the material from the chipper to be directed exactly where you want it.
For safety, not only are all working parts, including drive belts, drums and blades covered by guards, but the Armstrong DR-GS-15H is also fitted with an emergency cut off switch, which is operated by a safety bar located on the intake hopper.
*All machines bought direct from us are supplied with either a 1-year business use warranty or a 2-year domestic use warranty. Simply complete the registration card and once verified, the warranty will be in force.
**Both KOHLER and we are able to supply spare parts back up and customer service to our valued direct sales customers.
There are similar machines on the market, but we are confident that the engineering and build quality of an Armstrong make the value clear to see.
