Armstrong DR-SG-15
Electric start - Stump Grinder
The Armstrong DR-SG-15 Stump Grinder is built to decimate stubborn tree stumps left behind after felling trees, even up to 3ft in diameter. Capable of clearing stumps and roots up to 235mm (9 inches) deep, with an impressive above ground capability of 600mm (24 inches) this is one of the most capable machines on the market, designed and engineered to give unrivalled performance in its class.
Engineered to be worked hard and be ultra-reliable, this high powered, electric start grinder can chew through even the most stubborn stumps in no time, at a price that is as impressive as the quality of the machine.
To compliment the engineering and strength built into the design, we have partnered with the world-renowned Briggs and Stratton Engines company to provide the power for our full range of arboricultural equipment. Bringing Euro V emissions standards, we’re proud to be able to supply the most up to date environmentally friendly petrol power with optimal fuel economy and reliability.
The Armstrong DR-SG-15 features the Briggs and Stratton 400cc XR Professional 13.5HP single cylinder petrol engine, which transmits its power to the mining-grade tungsten carbide tipped grinding wheel via a centrifugal clutch and a pair of heavy-duty rubber drive belts.
The 400cc powerplant rotates the heavy duty 304mm diameter stump grinding wheel at 3600 revs per minute, making light work of any wood with is 9 carbide tipped teeth. The stump grinding teeth have been specially designed so they can be re-sharpened a number of times before we need to send you a replacement set. This makes the machine very economical to run.
Engineered with the operator in mind, the sturdy frame has a wheelbase of only 80cm making access into most locations very easy. Large pneumatic tyres have been specified make transport of the machine to the jobsite easy. With a weight of only 110kg operation of the stump grinder is simple and straightforward. The hand brake is applied, which locks the drum brake on the left wheel, cleverly designed to allow for the machine to be arced from left to right across the stump milling it away easily by using the well-balanced weight of the machine to the operators advantage. The handle is fully adjustable to assist any likely arc of operation, allowing it to be adjusted to the most comfortable position for the operator depending on whether the stump is above or below ground level. The ergonomic handle can also be fully folded over to assist in storing the machine.
For operator safety, a full width chassis deflector curtain is fitted to prevent debris from being ejected from beneath the machine. All drive belts and the grinding wheel itself are also protected by guards. An essential for safe operation is the integrated “dead man’s handle” safety lever fitted to the handle. This must be permanently held for the machine to run. Without it the operators grip, the engine simply cuts out and stops operation.
